Thirty-eight minutes and forty-nine seconds. That’s how long I was on the phone with AT&T this morning regarding the non-existent phone service at our new house. It’s took about three transfers and a lot of time on hold to figure out the service to the house is find and it’s our jacks in the house that are messed up and to schedule someone to come out and fix them.

Moving: Day 2
Posted on April 5th, 2008 in Moving | Comments Off
We got an amazing amount of stuff moved over to our new house yesterday. The entire garage (except for a couple of mattresses) and every box except for one. It was a long hard day that left my legs really sore.
Today we’re getting a big truck with a lift gate so we can move the furniture and appliances. There’s a lot of people helping us today so it should go quickly.
This will be the first night we spend in our new house. Thus we’ll be without an internet connection at the house until Tuesday. So this will likely be the last update before I get to work on Monday and Emily won’t be able to check email until Tuesday unless she goes to the local coffee house or someone else’s house.
Moving Begins Today

After nearly a week of delays we finally get the keys to our new house today. So the process of moving begins today. I plan on getting everything in our garage and everything we’ve boxed up over to the new house today. Tomorrow we’re going to rent a big truck with a lift gate and get a bunch of friends to help us move furniture and appliances and anything else that’s left.
One downside of moving is that we’ll be without an internet connection at our new house for a couple of days until the cable company hooks us up. I guess I’ll just have to play some more Rock Band. But then again, maybe moving into a new house would be the appropriate time unwrap a new game (to me anyway). Like Gears of War!
House Closing
Posted on March 29th, 2008 in Moving | Comments Off
After a roller-coaster escrow period we’ll finally be closing on our new house Tuesday, April 1st. It may be a buyer’s market but it was incredibly difficult to secure the loan. The care-free lending practices of recent years has not only led to a record number of foreclosures but also tougher conditions for post-bubble buyers.
Of course, we get to go through most of this all over again when we refinance to take advantage of a better loan due to the recently signed economic stimulus package. But a refinance should be considerably less stressful than the initial purchase.
We’re going to start moving some boxes and small items during the week and will move the big appliances and furniture on Saturday.
New House

After a very long time looking for a new house we finally have an offer accepted. This comes none too soon as Emily is about 3 months away from giving birth to our 3rd child. We had just recently sold our current home and thought we might have to live in our van (down by the river of course) if we couldn’t find a new place in time.
The home doesn’t appear on most of the realtor web sites anymore except for the selling agent’s site. Check out the details if you’re into that sort of thing. Here’s some pictures pulled directly from that page.

An Upstairs Bedroom

A Downstairs Bedroom. Ya, the slat window. We know. Nobody will be sleeping in here anytime soon. That’s okay we have three more bedrooms upstairs.
