Tonight I was taking care of both Tyler and Jillian by myself. While I was changing Jillian’s diaper in the bedroom I heard Tyler playing around in the bathroom. We don’t usually let Tyler to play in the bathroom by himself so as soon as I finished with Jillian’s diaper I checked to see what he was doing. To my absolute surprise he was sitting on top of the toilet — with the lid closed — reading one of Emily’s Reader’s Digest magazines. Amazing! Here’s a couple of pictures.

Remember, in order to simplify the updating process Tyler’s pictures are now being included in The Kids album.

I just completed another chapter in Tyler’s 2nd Year DVD. This one is called Eating. Okay, so watching someone eat isn’t always the most exciting thing in the world but there’s a couple of things that set this apart from uhh… all those other videos of toddlers eating you’ve seen. First, our video focuses almost exclusively on Tyler’s habit of dipping his food in various sauces. Secondly, I included subtitles as kind of a silent commentary track through most of the video.

That’s what Tyler said this evening as we got out of the van in front of the Tillman’s house. Four distinct syllables! Maybe even a full grammatically correct sentence but I’m not that current on my English to be able to tell for sure. Still, stringing together that many sounds and ideas is a first for him and an amazing feat.

We have a lot of video of Tyler just doing random things around the house. I edited together a bunch of little pieces and put it to some music and this is the result.

We have a new video posted. Playing With Cali is comprised of three different play sessions. If you want to hear some big time Tyler laughing you have to see this video.

We have new pictures of the kids posted online now. I’m also making a slight change to how pictures are posted.

In order to keep the complexity of updating to a minimum I decided that each child will get their own album up until they turn two years old. Each kid’s personal album will contain pictures of just one child without the other child also being in the shot. That way each kid will get their own special album with pictures of just them without any siblings.

However, after two years of age all pictures will go into the general “Kids” album. This album will contain pictures of the kids together or any picture of a kid over two years old.

I know it sounds convoluted but it’s the best compromise that give each child their own album but at the same will make it easier for me to post family pictures in the future without getting into the situation where I’m maintaining four or five different albums based on who’s in the shot.

The two updates today are The Kids (Vol. 1) and Jillian (3 – 6 mos.).

We took Tyler to his first real movie this evening. We have been wanting to do this for a few months now but haven’t been sure how he would handle sitting still in the dark for 90 minutes. This evening we decided to take the plunge and find out.

We went to go see Disney’s Valiant and was pleasantly surprised to find that Tyler was a near perfect angel through the whole thing. He sat down in his own chair with his feet barely reaching the end of the seat. He had a little bag of popcorn in between his legs and his eyes were riveted to the screen while he continually shoved popcorn into his mouth.

Halfway through the movie he wanted to sit with Daddy so I held him in my lap for the remainder of the show. Near the end he did get a little tired and wanted to get down but he never looked away from the screen and was perfectly quiet and behaved until the very end.

Much to our surprise Jillian also watched the movie throughout the whole show as well.

All in all, I think it was a successful outing and something we’ll repeat at some point in the future.
